IL2Shaker v2.00
A downloadable software for Windows
Il2Shaker is a bass shaker driver built specifically for IL2 Sturmovik: Great Battles. It generates audio signals in real time to power bass shakers such as Buttkickers or Daytons, giving realistic feedback to in game events.
Il2Shaker v2 augments the sparse telemetry provided by the game with data read directly from the game at runtime. This is a major overhaul and enhancement of Il2Shaker v1 with a complete rewrite using this augmented data to significantly improve fidelity and to create new effects that were not possible before due to the limited data.
Effects include:
- Piston Engines: Utilises engine RPM, torque, cylinder count, gearbox reduction ratio, prop blade count, ignition state, and damage level to drive a multipart vibration simulation that includes crankshaft, combustion, propshaft, blade pass, and special handling for frequencies that fall below shaker output range. This all works completely automatically and each engine will have a unique signature that varies in response to load, RPM, and damage condition.
- Aerodynamics: Feel vibrations that scale in depth and intensity as you approach stalling, feel the drag from those gears you left down after takeoff.
- Structural Stress: Feel the creaking of the airframe intensify as you load up on Gs.
- Wheels: Feel the loading on your wheels and the texture of the runway as you take off - feel the heavy hits of the wheels on the ground when you make a rough landing.
- Terrain Contact: Determines if the plane is in contact with the ground across all contact points and utilises the force on each to provide deep rumbling feedback when you slide across the ground after a particularly bad landing
- Landing Gear: Feel your landing gear actuating, with satisfying clunks when they individually reach the end of their travel.
- Gunfire: IL2Shaker directly polls gunfire at 500 Hz and utilises the guns' kinetic energy to automatically drive gunfire rumble simulation. This direct polling means the gun cadence is accurately represented, including when firing through props or during overheating or misfiring events. Bigger guns hit harder, and there's extensive audio balancing to make sure firing a single gun and a bank of machine guns still gives meaningful feedback.
- Ordnance Release: Provides feedback for bomb and rocket releases that scales with the relative weight of the ordnance to the airframe.
- Damage & Explosions: Feel when you get hit, with effect output that scales based on the energy in the hit, the damage caused, and explosions.
- Pressure Waves: Feel the pressure wave from bomb blasts and nearby flak bursts.
Note: Jet engines are currently unsupported but will be added in a future update.
All of these effects are highly configurable with basic settings exposed to control frequency levels to suit your setup. By enabling advanced mode you gain access to over 80 parameters to fine tune each effect if you desire.
The software includes an equaliser so you can balance the different frequency bands to correct by feel the output based on your particular hardware and the resonance frequency of your setup.
There is a trial version available for download. This gives full access to every feature in the app for 3 days so you can test it out and decide if this is for you.
